As a Cleaning Plant Operator, you'll be the first step in our milling process-the gatekeeper of quality. You'll take raw grains fresh from the fields and be instrumental in starting to transform them into food grade products, which will be distributed across the world. You will be operating state-of-the-art milling equipment with in high tech systems.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor the A and/or B Mill equipment, ensuring optimal product quality and yield.
- Adjust, test, and troubleshoot grain cleaning, de-hulling systems, and color sorters daily.
- Minimize downtime by proactively monitoring equipment performance and conducting preventative maintenance checks.
- Perform detailed documentation of product testing, process checks, and maintenance activities.
- Handle, process, and verify Gluten-Free products to meet strict compliance standards.
- Collaborate and communicate with team members across departments including Milling, Warehouse, Receiving, and Maintenance.
- Accurately record production data, downtime, and inventory updates using computerized systems like Galileo.
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and workplace cleanliness; immediately address spills and ensure a clean, safe work environment.
- Assist in grain receiving and bulk loading systems (truck and rail) as needed.
- Participate in cross-training opportunities to support operations across the mill.
- Consistently promote and comply with all company safety policies, food safety procedures, and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Previous experience in a grain milling or processing environment is an asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and maintain complex milling equipment.
- Familiarity with Gluten-Free grain handling and compliance procedures is preferred.
- Ability to recognize off-spec product characteristics (e.g., color, size, odor) through visual and sensory inspection.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Organizational and decision-making abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced, dusty, hot, cold, and noisy environment.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and around moving machinery (PPE provided).
- Strong commitment to teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Hours of work
This position will be working 12-hr Modified shift schedule, including Weekend and night shifts.
