Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Apprentice Electrician to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in a food production environment. This position is ideal for someone enrolled in or recently graduated from an electrical apprenticeship program and looking to gain hands-on experience in a high-paced, sanitation-critical facility.

Responsibilities & Expectations:
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems for automated food processing and packaging equipment.
  • Help run conduit, pull wire, and install electrical boxes, switches, motors, and sensors.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on machinery under supervision.
  • Learn and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP requirements.
  • Support production downtime reduction by participating in preventive maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and adhere to OSHA and NEC regulations.
  • Accurately document maintenance tasks and report any issues to supervisors or maintenance leads
  • Support production line upgrades and installations, including power distribution and control wiring.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and corrective actions related to food-grade electrical installations.
  • Participate in safety meetings and on-the-job technical training sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Electrical Apprenticeship Program or recently completed one.
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory, wiring methods, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics (entry-level).
  • Willingness to work in cold, wet, or hot environments, typical in food production.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform physical work safely.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and eagerness to learn.
  • Flexibility for shift work, overtime, or weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, motors, and VFDs is a plus.
  • OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour certification
  • Food safety awareness (GMP, HACCP, SQF training)
