Momentum Design Build, a division of The Hazelwood Group, is looking for a full-time Foreman to join our team for various construction projects in central Vancouver Island.

Compensation

  • $38 to $42 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Summary

The Foreman oversees all construction activities on the work site, ensuring top-quality workmanship and efficiency. They manage all on-site workers and enforce safety and work regulation policies. The Foreman directs all work crews and individuals on-site, assigning tasks and allocating resources to complete the required work.

Job Duties

  • Oversee and coordinate the actions of crew members during construction projects.
  • Read blueprints and interpret information during the different phases of construction.
  • Operate site vehicles and other machinery or equipment.
  • Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency.
  • Assist the Project Manager with the initial mobilization and set up of the construction site.
  • Ensure the efficient use of labor, machines and materials used by the crew.
  • Take an active role in the selection, training, assignment and supervision of project staff, including monitoring performance, providing feedback and taking corrective action.
  • Report problems to management.
  • Keep the project on time and on budget.
  • Assist in the resolution of design issues, change requests, material defects and equipment problems.
  • Monitor job progress and costs and provide regular progress reporting to management.
  • Manage all project administration activities including payroll, timekeeping, labor coding, equipment coding, purchase order coding and safety reporting.
  • Establish effective onsite communications and progress reporting to stakeholders.
  • Maintain effective labor practices through compliance with company policies, resolution of employee issues and fair treatment of employees.
  • Provide coaching and training to team members.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety training and reporting requirements.
  • Hands-on construction site work when required.

Requirements

  • 5 years' experience as a Construction Foreman preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans
  • Knowledge of OH&S regulations and related building codes
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of traffic control for construction sites.
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Computer literate.
