Mission Lane is revolutionizing access to credit to pave a clear way forward for millions of Americans on the path to financial success. By attracting top-tier talent and leveraging cutting-edge technology, we're redefining consumer credit for the better. Sound like a mission you can get behind?

About the role:

As a Software Engineer at Mission Lane, you'll work within a team that values curiosity, collaboration, and thoughtful engineering. In this role, you'll help design, build, and maintain backend services that power our products.

Moreover, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to real features used by real customers, helping us solve technical challenges using modern tooling and frameworks. You'll be responsible for delivering well-tested code, debugging and resolving issues, and continuously learning as you go. Our team emphasizes autonomy with support—you'll have space to take ownership of tasks, but will always have the support of senior engineers.

You'll participate in regular planning and code review sessions, and collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders. Whether you're building a brand new feature, contributing to a service refactor, or improving test coverage, your work will directly support the growth of the platform and the team.

We believe in a strong foundation of engineering practices, and we'll encourage you to contribute to improving our internal processes, tools, and culture.

You'll likely thrive if you have:

  • A strong foundation in computer science (experience with data structures, algorithms, and design patterns)
  • 1-3 years of authoring production-level software (internship experience considered)
  • Experience with backend software languages
  • A genuine passion for technology and a history of bettering your technical skills
  • A team-first mindset; you look to learn from and enable others on your team
  • An eagerness to drive engineering best practices forward
  • Experience coordinating with business stakeholders to deliver technical solutions

You get bonus points for:

  • A computer science bachelor's degree
  • Experience in a tech startup
  • Having a track record of thriving within an organization (promotions, growth in previous roles, etc)
  • Deep technical experiences:
    • Proficiency in Functional or Object-Oriented programming languages (Kotlin, Java, etc)
    • Experience working with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS

About Mission Lane:

Founded in December 2018, Mission Lane is a purpose-driven fintech company based in the U.S., with headquarters in Richmond, Virginia.

It all started with a realization: nearly fifty percent of the adult population in the U.S. doesn't have access to a clear line of credit. Most traditional credit card companies either overlook or overcharge this group because they have less-than-perfect credit scores or no scores at all. We decided this just wouldn't do.

In partnership with our sponsor banks, we offer credit cards under the Mission Lane brand name, with better, clearer terms, and a more refined customer experience than the alternatives available to people working hard to improve their credit.

To date, over three million consumers have chosen Mission Lane, earning high customer ratings on Credit Karma for its market segment and industry leading Net Promoter scores.

Mission Lane has cumulatively raised over $600 million of equity from leading investors, including Invus Opportunities, QED Investors, LL Funds, funds affiliated with Oaktree Capital Management, and other leading investors.
