Job DescriptionReporting directly to the Director of Strategy and working with the Office of Strategy Management, this position will be responsible for leading and overseeing the successful execution of strategic initiatives that are of high priority and complexity and are critical to Halton Healthcare's strategic priorities. The Senior Project Manager ensures that hospital-wide strategic initiatives are implemented effectively, contributing to the optimization of hospital operations and supporting the ongoing transformation of healthcare delivery. By managing complex projects, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and applying best practices in project management, the Senior Project Manager helps the Halton Healthcare achieve its vision to provide exemplary patient experiences, always. The Senior Project Manager key responsibilities include:
Lead multiple, complex strategic projects aligned with hospital priorities, managing timelines, budgets, risks, and resources across all phases of the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to translate strategic priorities into actionable project plans and deliverables that drive improved patient care, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability.
Coordinate and facilitate corporate planning processes across departments, ensuring alignment with the hospital's strategic and operational goals.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders; lead meetings, workshops, and presentations to align priorities, communicate progress, and secure approvals.
Support strategy-related committees, including agenda development, tracking of action items, and preparation of high-quality materials.
Lead change management planning and execution, including identifying potential barriers, supporting stakeholder readiness, and delivering training to ensure successful adoption of new processes or technologies.
Provide timely and effective communication to senior leaders and project sponsors, including updates on project progress, key risks, and outcomes.
Guide and support project teams, ensuring team members are well-supported and engaged; mentor junior staff and contribute to organizational capacity-building in project management.
Develop and track performance metrics (KPIs); analyze project data and outcomes to support continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
Maintain accurate project documentation and promote consistent use of project management tools, templates, and methodologies.
Identify opportunities for innovation, process improvement, and cost efficiency without compromising quality or patient care.
- Master's degree in public, business administration, or healthcare administration or equivalent experience required.
- Undergraduate degree in business or related discipline preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred
- Change Management Certification (i.e. PROSCI or equivalent) an asset
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare environment, working with cross-functional teams and managing complex projects
- Strong understanding of the Halton Healthcare strategic plan
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning or corporate performance measurement
- Demonstrates an ability for critical and strategic thinking
- Expertise in project management best practices as well as corporate and board level project and program reporting
- Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proactive with an ability to anticipate needs; understanding of current issues and public policy to provide strategic analysis and advice
- Demonstrates superior judgement, decision-making and ability to support executive teams
- Superior interpersonal, communications skills and ability to successfully build relationships and drive towards consensus
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective and comprehensive reports and presentations for various audiences, including executives
- Strong working knowledge of computer applications, especially the Microsoft Office suite, in particular PowerPoint, Word and Excel
