Job Overview
Reporting to theBIM Manager, the BIM Designer is responsible for the BIM (Building Information Modeling) of assigned Commercial, Institutional and/or District Energy mechanical contracts.
Under the BIM Managers general direction, the BIM Designer works along the project team and site superintendent to provide high quality, innovative design solutions, while ensuring that the companys goals for service, honesty, and reliability are met and exceeded.They must have excellent oral and written communication skills to successfully address the coordination aspect of this position.
The ideal candidate would have the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings specifications and have a practical knowledge of mechanical systems as well as applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist BIM team with drafting, detailing, and 3D modeling
- Assist in the creation of General Arrangement Drawings, Fabrication Drawings and Bill of Materials
- Assist in job related filing and archiving, both paper & electronic
- Assist with Project Coordination activities as directed by the General Manager when required due to high volumes
- Report directly to the BIM Manager and develop a strong working relationship with all staff, field personnel, suppliers and contractors
- Conduct clash coordination meetings with external trades and stake holders
- Prepare & update project mechanical schedules in Microsoft Project
- Review/process shop drawings and construction drawings
- Ensure design complies with applicable specifications & regulations and meets customers expectations.
- Keep current on new products and services to ensure the company stays on the leading edge of technological advances.
- Via internal meetings, report on progress of projects and regular duties
Competencies and Qualifications
- 1-4 years of experience in themechanicalconstruction industry (experience must be in Mechanical BIM modeling, not architectural)
- Successful Completion of post-secondary Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical CADD program or equivalent
- Experience with Revit & Navisworks is preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software, 2D & 3D drawing
- Experience with MS Office Suite
- Interest in programming is preferred
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail oriented, procedural in workflow, aptitude for accuracy
- Well organized with the ability to prioritize workload to meet deliverables and customer expectations
- Able to work effectively independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Possess a strong can-do attitude and hands on approach to deliver superior results
- Prior mechanical experience in the construction industry is preferred
