About the Role

This is more than a wrench-turning role. Youll lead the charge on all things mechanical and operationalbuilding a systemized shop, maintaining a busy fleet of trucks and trailers, and supporting multiple landscape crews with precision and urgency.

What You'll Be Doing

Mechanical & Fleet

Diagnose, maintain, and repair trucks, trailers, skid steers, excavators, small engines, and more

Perform and certify annual safety inspections (CVOR required)

Manage and log all maintenance and repairsensure 100% accountability

Keep tools and equipment ready at all timessharpen blades, change filters, prep for seasonal use

Suggest improvements for equipment upgrades and cost efficiency

Shop & Yard Systems

Take full ownership of yard cleanliness, organization, and inventory

Implement and maintain lean systemsevery item labeled, every tool tracked

Build and maintain visual systems (shadow boards, bins, tool tags)

Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and bulk materials

Organize vehicle and equipment parking, snow equipment storage, and seasonal swaps

Uphold a clean-as-you-go culturenothing left out, nothing left behind

Crew Support & Communication

Assist with materials staging, loading/unloading, and site deliveries

Communicate clearly with crew leadsprioritize repairs, handle urgent needs, solve problems fast

Operate a variety of trucks and equipment for safe, timely transport

Step in to support crews with labour when needed

What You Bring

Licensed mechanic qualified to certify commercial trucks/trailers (CVOR)

310T and AZ licenses

Strong mechanical skills across electrical, hydraulic, and small engine systems

Laser-focused attention to detail and shop organization

Familiarity with LEAN principles and 5S systems (or eager to learn)

Highly self-motivated with a take-charge attitudeyou lead without needing to be told

Calm, confident communicator who thrives under pressure and shifting priorities

Skilled at using tech tools (fleet software, digital logs, inventory systems)

Bonus Points If You Have:

Experience in landscaping or construction fleet environments

Welding or fabrication knowledge

Previous experience setting up lean shop systems or inventory controls
