We are seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to deliver exceptional customer service in overseeing and administering our payroll and benefits programs across Canada and the US. This role will ensure that procedures are compliant, efficient, and current, and as a member of the HR team, support other team initiatives. The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will serve as an internal subject matter expert, providing ownership of payroll processes, benefits programs, and other employee experience programs.


Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the administration of full-cycle semi-monthly payroll for Canada and US employees, including processing of hourly and salary ayments, on-calls, after hours and commissions, and validation of deduction and remittances
  • Act as the main point of contact for employees and management for payroll, time, leaves, and benefits inquiries
  • Manage benefits programs and saving plans, including enrollments, terminations, and annual open enrollment
  • Maintain and update personnel records in internal systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions (Canada and the US)
  • Assist employees with queries regarding pay and benefits. Prepare employee forms (verification of employment, income tax forms, benefits-related documentation)
  • Coordinate with finance and leadership; prepare payroll and benefits reports
  • Educate employees on payroll processes, benefit plans, and policy changes
  • Coordinate with third-party payroll and benefit providers
  • Administration of expenses and expense report system
  • Reconciliation and balancing of payroll data against third-party providers, including remittances,
  • benefits, and retirement plans
  • Year-end document preparation and reconciliation by jurisdiction

Requirements:
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in payroll and benefits administration role, preferably with
  • Canada and the US
  • Knowledge of payroll processing systems
  • Understanding of payroll tax laws, employment standards, and benefits plan administration
  • Experience with multi-jurisdiction payroll processing (US and Canada)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HRIS systems
  • Experience in HRIS implementation an asset
