Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager the Headstart Program Worker Assistant is responsible for carrying out the Headstart Program in accordance with the regulations under the Child Care and Early Years Act. They assist in the implementing of developmentally appropriate programming that facilitates a safe and stimulating learning atmosphere for the children and other duties as required.
Job Specific Responsibilities
Direct service with children 15months 5yrs
Assists in implementing programming that enhance cognitive, physical, social and emotional development in accordance with the Child Care and Early Years Act and ECE philosophy
Implements program using a variety of teaching skills and methods including modelling, observing, demonstrating, reinforcing, guiding and assisting children in activities
Responds to daily direction given by educators and/or Manager
Ensuring safety of children at all times
Other duties as required
Qualifications
Police check for working with vulnerable populations no older than 6 months
Current CPR level C, First Aid
Food Handlers Certification (can be arranged at time of hiring)
Up to date immunizations as per requirements in CCEYA
Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job
Effective at communicating and problem solving
General knowledge and flexibility working in diverse community-based programs with families facing multiple health risks and barriers
This is a Canada Summer Jobs position and the individual hired must be:
(a) between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
(b) a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act [S.C. 2001, c. 27]*; and
(c) legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
