Position Description:

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Senior Estimator to manage and execute the estimating process for our construction projects, ensuring accurate cost analysis, competitive bidding, and strategic procurement planning. This role requires an individual with deep industry knowledge, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders. The Senior Estimator will play a critical role in evaluating project costs, identifying efficiencies, and supporting the financial success of our development projects, all while contributing to a collaborative and positive company culture.

In addition to the duties typically expected of a senior level estimator, the successful incumbent will be responsible to:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects.
  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to develop accurate take-offs and pricing.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather essential cost data.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and strategies to enhance project feasibility and competitiveness.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and industry professionals to obtain competitive pricing and accurate market insights.
  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, ensuring timely and competitive submissions.
  • Assess and mitigate potential project risks related to cost, procurement, and scheduling.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy in cost analysis.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, construction materials, labor costs, and market conditions.
  • Support executive leadership with strategic planning and business development efforts.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 5 years in a senior-level capacity.
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong knowledge of residential, commercial, and mixed-use construction methodologies and materials.
  • Expertise in cost estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage Estimating, Timberline, or similar).
  • Understanding of local building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes in Canadian markets.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to anticipate project needs and challenges.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and deliverables.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PQS, CEC, or Gold Seal Certified Estimator) are an asset.
