We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior System Administrator to oversee and manage our organization's IT infrastructure. This role involves maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing all server, network, and system operations to ensure high availability, security, and performance. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with a deep understanding of system architecture and a proactive approach to maintaining infrastructure in a secure and scalable manner.

*This role will be working out of a client site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and maintain Windows/Linux servers, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and storage systems.
  • Administer and monitor cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Ensure optimal performance, availability, and security of systems, including backup/recovery and disaster recovery planning.
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file services, and user account provisioning.
  • Implement and maintain system monitoring tools, logs, and performance tuning processes.
  • Lead patch management, software deployments, and system upgrades with minimal downtime.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, standards, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with network engineers, developers, and support teams on infrastructure initiatives.
  • Mentor junior system admins and provide escalation support for complex technical issues.
  • Enforce IT security best practices, compliance standards, and internal policies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in system administration with increasing responsibility.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server and/or Linux environments.
  • Solid knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure; specifically Azure
  • Proficient in scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with network protocols, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices and enterprise security tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle critical issues under pressure.

Assets/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as MCSE, RHCE, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or similar.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
  • Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
