If you are passionate about underwriting and wish to actively contribute to transforming the commercial insurance sector within a fast-growing company, we are looking for a Technical Specialist in underwriting to join our team.
In this role, you will report to the Regional Director, SME, and will be responsible for providing ongoing support to the team, approving certain complex files, and occasionally underwriting specific cases.
Main Responsibilities
- Confirm and approve underwriting standards based on the managers needs.
- Collaborate with underwriters to establish insurer standards.
- Provide support and technical underwriting training to the team.
- Be actively involved in the integration and training of new employees.
- Participate in projects with the team leader, including underwriter evaluations.
- Participate in quality control and offer training when necessary.
- Review and approve files that exceed authority thresholds.
- Verify policies and master insurance standards.
- Review certain files outside underwriters' delegation.
Profile
- 5 years of underwriting experience.
- Diploma in insurance or studies in a related field.
- Knowledge of common law and the Civil Code of Quebec.
- Experience in MGA, an asset.
- RIBO, CRM, PAA or FPAA certifications, an asset.
- Bilingual, French and English, both written and spoken to communicate with internal and external clients in Canada.
- Experience in training.
- Excellent active listening and empathy skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage time well and analyze effectively.
- Quick and informed decision-making in complex situations.
- Proactive, with a strong sense of change, responsibility, and priorities.
