The Opportunity
We are seeking an ambitious, self-motivated ‘Summer Student – Claims' to join our Canada Claims team, based in our Toronto office. Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Claims, you will be responsible for supporting our Claims Services team and other business functions within the Claims department. You will provide exceptional customer service to policyholders, brokers, claimants and internal customers, including underwriters and claims professionals. You will also assist claims professionals on special projects, attend internal meetings and participate in team and branch activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support our Claims department by assisting with our claims programs, claims intake and reporting and closing letters;
- Ensure new claims are set-up correctly in various claims systems;
- Ensure correspondence on claims and notices with insureds and brokers is completed in a timely manner;
- Liaise with underwriting and internal stakeholders;
- Assist with other administrative tasks within the Claims department;
- Take charge and deliver on special projects, as assigned; and
- Assist with Claims team initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada;
- Working toward completion of a college or university degree or currently enrolled to start a college / university program later this fall;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written);
- Demonstrated ability to handle inquiries professionally with a focus on customer service;
- Adaptable and able to work independently and within a team environment;
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft productivity tools (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, MS Teams);
- Comfortable with learning various computer systems and managing electronic files; and
- Previous work experience in an professional office environment is an asset.
