Opportunity

As a Job Placement Specialist at our WorkBC Centre, you will play a key role in delivering comprehensive job placement services. Youll work one-on-one with clients, assess their employment needs and goals, provide coaching, connect them with employment opportunities, and ensure effective client service administration and case management. This role also involves engaging with local employers, gathering labour market information, and contributing to workshops, committees, and broader community initiatives.   • Shifts:Monday to Thursday, including rotating Wednesday evenings
  • Hourly Wage: $27.15 to start

Responsibilities

Employer Engagement

  • Proactively and regularly connect with local employers, marketing our placement services and identifying job opportunities that meet the programs criteria and client needs.
  • Organize and participate in community-based networking events to enhance employer relationships
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employer inquiries about our placement services.

Labour Market Information (LMI)

  • Gather and share labour market information to support service delivery and employer engagement.
  • Monitor local labour market trends to identify emerging opportunities and sectors for client placement.
  • Attend community events and liaise with WorkBC team to ensure our strategies align with current market trends.

Job Placement Services

  • Conduct client intakes and assessments to determine eligibility for employment placement programs such as Wage Subsidy, Unpaid Work Experience, and Customized Employment.
  • Actively identify unposted job opportunities, match clients with appropriate employers, and coordinate placement activities to ensure timely transitions into employment.
  • Provide tailored support and coaching in career planning and job readiness to ensure clients are well-prepared for successful employment outcomes.
  • Maintain a client caseload with regular follow-ups, progress monitoring, and job sustainment support.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of WorkBC policies, funding contract requirements, and employment placement processes to ensure compliance and effective service delivery.
  • Participate in team case-coordination and training sessions to continuously enhance service delivery.

Administration

  • Review and process employer applications and negotiate contracts that detail wage subsidy amounts, training hours, supervision requirements, and other key details.
  • Guide employers through the claims process and manage all related administrative tasks.
  • Perform and document regular workplace monitors, including onsite visits, exit interviews, and program evaluations with employers and employees.
  • Forecast, track, and report on cashflow and client volumes related to job placement services.
  • Maintain precise client records and activity logs in our Integrated Case Management (ICM) System to meet reporting requirements and ensure compliance with funding mandates.

Committees, Initiatives, & Workshops

  • Actively participate in relevant committees (such as the Self-Employment; Skills Training; and Community Engagement committees) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to broader organizational projects that enhance service effectiveness and community engagement.
  • Assist in planning and delivering orientations and in-house workshops that support client career development.

Qualifications

Education and Training

  • A post-secondary Certificate, Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Counselling, or relevant field, Certified Career Development Professional (CCDP) preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • Experience in employer engagement, including building relationships, marketing services, and identifying job opportunities.
  • Strong ability to assess labour market trends and connect businesses with workforce solutions.
  • Demonstrated success in matching clients with suitable employers and coordinating employment placements would be an asset
  • Experience working one-on-one with clients, managing client caseloads, providing job sustainment support, and maintaining compliance with employment program policies would be an asset

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to research, analyze, and report on labour market trends and employer needs
  • Ability to support a diverse community of clients with multiple-barriers to employment
  • Proficiency in Word, scheduling tools, and client management systems (ICM an asset)
  • Effective interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organization
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to contribute effectively to the team

Other

  • The incumbent must have access to a reliable mode of transportation to use for off-site job duties
  • A satisfactory criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check, is mandatory at time of job offer
