Tridon Communications is currently seeking a Senior Security Systems Technician to add to our growing Team in BC. This position is local, working directly on clients LNGC Site in Kitimat, BC. ***Housing & relocation assistance package provided.
About the job:
The Senior Security Systems Technician, is responsible for the assembly, install, repair, and maintenance of video and telecommunications systems, campus cabling and cabling for wireless access points.
- Security System work will consist of installing, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing security system equipment in medium and large scale commercial and industrial settings working on access control, CCTV, and Network Video Recorders.
- Structured Cabling work will include installation of cable inside/outside buildings and involves installing field connectors, testing utilizing OTDR and Power Meters.
Knowledge and Experience
- 8+ years experience and will have a Technical Diploma or equivalent experience in related field.
- Installation, programing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of security system equipment and software in medium and large scale commercial and industrial settings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation requirements;
- Repair equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics, test instruments, and hand tools.
- Experience with structured cabling as well as wiring standards and codes.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and debug a substantial variety of systems for complex problems in hardware and software.
- Experience in commissioning new systems, analyzing performance and identifying malfunctions.
- Experience with customer training and demonstrations.
- Experience with writing non-routine programs of substantial variety and complexity for new and old systems.
- Ability to provide custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution as well as systems audits and consultation.
- Install, configure, and support a variety of network systems and equipment for assigned projects.
- Installation, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of structured cable components. (Cat 5E, Cat 6, Cat 6A, Fiber Optic)
- Installation and testing of communication circuits via available communications cabling network
- TE Connectivity certification training, Asset
- Commscope and or Systimax certification training, Asset
- Belden certification training, Asset
- Corning certification training, Asset
Must Haves:
- College Technical Diploma or equivalent in related field
- 5-8+ years of previous Security Systems field service experience required
- Must have one or more certifications from Lenel, Milestone Systems, or Avigilon
- Operator's License or equivalent (recent Driver's Abstract will be required upon condition of employment)
- Ability to pass a pre access drug and alcohol test and maintain the ability to pass subsequent pre access testing
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure
- Must be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision
- Highly proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Strong analytical, problem solving and trouble shooting skills with great attention to detail.
- Advanced organizational and project planning skills
- Excellent understanding of networking requirements and wiring standards applicable to the telecommunications industry that include codes, standards, and regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with clients and team members
