Traine Construction and Development (Traine) is currently seeking a QC Foreman to join our team. This position will predominantly focus on inspection, inventory, documentation, and remediation of quality deficiencies during the construction phase of the project. As a key member of our team, this position will report directly to the Site Superintendent, leading the training and day-to-day operation of onsite QC coordinators and laborers. In addition, this role assists in the development of QC processes and inspection documents, process automation and software integrations.

The QC Foreman proactively ensures that Traine's high quality standards are met. Providing a ‘Sharp and Polished' and ‘Best in Class' build.

This position is based in beautiful Colwood, BC.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Organizing

  • Complete QC checks and checklists for all stages of finishing. Develop lists for each trade and ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist with planning trade work tasks and daily schedules with the support of the Superintendents.
  • Assist with the development and improvement of QC related processes and procedures.
  • Uphold the industry QA/QC standards and ensure that Traine exceeds these standards.
  • Lead the migration of QC documentation to Procore.

Leading Others

  • Train and coach new QC coordinators and labourers.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to QC coordinators and labourers, under the direction of the Site Leadership, and assist in the performance review process.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Manage deficiency lists, control all nonconformance reports, and complete all final sign-off checklists.
  • Implement the QA/QC management system on site projects.
  • Maintain accurate technical documents, compile QC documentation for as-built handovers, and distribute QA/QC documentation to trade partners.

Quality Control

  • Work with Superintendents, Traine staff and trade partners on all aspects of QC.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of plumbing, electrical, appliances, shelving, flooring, tile, finishing, cabinets, countertops, paint, drywall, and final cleaning to ensure they meet Traine standards and are defect-free.

Construction

  • Oversee QA/QC from construction start to project handover and monitor all quality-related activities on site.
  • Coordinate all site QC inspections and monitor the implementation of the approved site QC Plan.
  • Coordinate and chair the QA/QC site meetings with the project's sub-contractors and Traine staff.

Project Handover

  • Ensure that Show Suite and Amenity area handover is on schedule and to Traine quality expectations. Ensure that the owner's quality expectations are met.
  • Ensure QC program is complete, and deficiencies identified and corrected prior to final building handover.
  • Compile ‘Lessons Learned' lists as needed. Track and record, to be shared with other projects to enhance Traine building practices going forward.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education in a related field preferred
  • Journeyman/Red Seal certification preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • 5 years plus experience as a construction-QC labourer/coordinator/lead required
  • Proficient in Procore and other construction software/programs
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of workplace safety, including safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Knowledge of first aid and CPR – First Aid designation preferred
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner if certified
  • Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods and tools required in various construction processes
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labour under adverse field conditions
  • Ability to read plans, specifications, details, sections, elevations, schematics, shop drawings and all other documentation
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do the job
  • Weekend and after hours work as required.
  • Out of town work as required.

Salary Range: $75,000-88,000
