Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Fulcrum Air is a global leader in the design, manufacture and operation of bespoke unmanned aircraft and robotic equipment for the overhead power transmission industry. We are seeking an Electronics Engineer to join our R&D Team. You will assist us in designing our products of the future, and in the continuous improvement of our existing products. You will be working in a creative and fast-paced “Skunkworks” style environment, with minimal bureaucracy and maximum freedom to enable you to perform at your highest level. Although we are asking for engineers with formal training in a specific discipline, to be truly effective at FulcrumAir in R&D, you must have an appreciation for how the various engineering disciplines mash together to create great final products.
Responsibilities:
- Design of electrical systems for UAV and robotics
- Performing or directing integration and testing of sensors, actuators, and controllers
- Schematic design and PCB layouts
- Develop design verification and validation test plans
- Assist with troubleshooting issues with instruments
- Potential travel, including internationally, to assist with projects
- Developing and maintaining process documentation and quality control procedures
Required Qualifications
- BSc. In Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- Previous experience in designing electronics
- Proficiency in soldering electronics assemblies (through-hole and surface mount)
- Experience with electronic lab equipment including oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal generators, logic analyzers, etc.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Beneficial Skills (Nice to Haves)
- Experience with both Analog and Digital electronics
- Experience with wiring harness design and drafting
- Experience with high voltage DC systems
- Experience with SOLIDWORKS a plus
- Experience with wireless radios and antennas
- Keen interest in drones, robotics, and unmanned systems
