Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Fire Hydrant Maintenance and Backflow Testing Technician to join our team. This role involves ensuring the functionality and safety of fire hydrants and conducting thorough backflow testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular maintenance on fire hydrants to ensure optimal operation.
  • Conduct backflow testing to prevent contamination of potable water supplies.
  • Document and report all maintenance and testing activities.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and perform necessary repairs.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties required, including lifting heavy equipment and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current ASTTBC or BCWWA certifications (considered an asset but not required).
  • Previous experience in fire hydrant maintenance or backflow testing.
