Millwrights are skilled tradespeople who install, maintain, and repair machinery in industrial settings. They work on a variety of equipment, including engines, turbines, pumps, and conveyors. Millwrights must have a strong understanding of mechanical principles and be able to work with a variety of tools and equipment.

The primary responsibility of a millwright is to maintain and repair machinery. This includes inspecting equipment for wear and tear, diagnosing problems, and making repairs. Millwrights also install new machinery and make modifications to existing equipment. They work closely with other members of the maintenance team to ensure that machinery is operating safely and efficiently.

Millwrights must have a strong understanding of mechanical principles and be able to work with a variety of tools and equipment. They must also be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. In addition, millwrights must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

The following are some of the specific duties of a millwright:

  • Inspecting machinery for wear and tear
  • Diagnosing problems with machinery
  • Making repairs to machinery
  • Installing new machinery
  • Making modifications to existing machinery
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics
  • Working independently and as part of a team

To be successful in this role, you should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Must holdat least an appropriate 433A Millwright License

    • Experience in food manufacturing and industrial settings is an asset
    • CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) knowledge would be an asset
    • Adherence with safety requirements and policies, eg.
    • Ensures lock-out tag-out policy adherence is enforced by self and others
    • Ensures all procedures are in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, Company Joint Safety Committee programs, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
