LaPrairie Works Inc., leader in highway and bridge maintenance and civil construction in Alberta is hiring Batch Plant Operator Lead to join our new concrete and aggregate division in Slave Lake, Alberta.

The Batch Plant Operator Lead is responsible for batching and mixing concrete according to established specifications and dispatching the orders to ensure timely delivery to our customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of concrete production processes, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate batching equipment to accurately mix concrete according to specifications.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and coordinate with suppliers for timely replenishment.
  • Schedule and dispatch concrete deliveries to job sites, optimizing delivery routes for efficiency.
  • Communicate with customers to confirm order details, delivery schedules, and special requirements.
  • Coordinate with drivers and equipment operators to ensure smooth operations and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of batching activities, inventory levels, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintains the plant in accordance with standard guidelines for plant image.
  • Responsible for organizing housekeeping, parts storage an equipment condition (cleanliness and appearance), entrance & property, and buildings with Drivers & Labourers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance as needed.
  • Communicating with Mechanics managing maintenance schedules for trucks and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
  • Respond to all requests for quote in a timely manner.
  • Conduct pre-job site visits when required.
  • Coordinate with Office Manager to ensure client payment will be received.
  • Review, approve, and forward all documentation (excluding safety documentation) to the Office Manager.
  • Approve worker timesheets.
  • Ensure all safety documentation is completed by drivers and turned into the Health & Safety Coordinator.
  • Complete monthly inspections of main shop/wash bay, batch plant, yard, daily job hazard assessments, and forward to the Health & Safety Coordinator.
  • Ensuring all maintenance is being tracked and accomplished on all trucks/equipment.
  • Read and follow instructions, procedures and schedules as outlined in the safety program.
  • Perform Management Co-Chair responsibilities for the Joint Work Site Health & Safety Committee.
  • Supervise the sale of precast products, of yard operators, and of all personnel involved in the production process.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities will be added as needed.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years' experience in concrete batching.
  • Familiar with general maintenance practices of heavy equipment.
  • Physically fit to do manual labour and heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work overtime, as needed.
