False Creek Healthcare Centre a division of Clearpoint Health Network is recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Manager

Reporting to Clinical Director, the Clinical Nurse Manager Operating Room is responsible for effective, efficient, and safe patient care services while managing human and environmental resources for the operating room and PACU. As the Nurse Manager, you are responsible for the clinical practice of all professional staff (RN's and LPN/RPN's), and ancillary support staff for the surgical facility. The Nurse Manager will act in accordance with the ORNAC standards and scope of practice pertaining to the peri-operative patient as well as in accordance with facility policy and procedure. This individual must possess the education, skills, knowledge, and experience to assess, treat and teach patients undergoing a variety and combination of operative procedures. The Nurse Manager must demonstrate a professional and caring approach in dealing with clients, colleagues and supervisors and possess critical thinking and assessment skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures and with the mission and vision of CHN
  • Clinical resource for perioperative services team members using evidence-based knowledge and prevailing standards
  • Evaluates current practice through quality and performance improvement measures
  • Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team, PACU and non-clinical team members
  • Coordinates, facilitates, and manages change within the facility
  • Operationally and fiscally manage the perioperative services of the department
  • Initiates and leads the interviews for team member selection and in evaluating team member
  • Assists with the orientation and support of new team members and the on-going compliance of the perioperative team members
  • Protects patients and team members by adhering to infection control policies, medication administration and storage procedures and controlled substances regulations
  • Participate cooperatively and communicates effectively with team members using daily huddles and continuous rounding
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies

Education Requirements/Experience:

  • Graduate of a recognized Nursing Program
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN), in good standing with the provincial regulatory body/college of nurses
  • Completion of an accredited peri-operative nursing program a requirement with 3-5 years in the intra-operative environment
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role (e.g.: Charge Nurse, Specialty Coordinator, Practice Lead)
  • General computer proficiency, including the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • A high level of clinical training and proficiency
  • Solid business acumen, understand budgeting, coordinate schedules, improve patient satisfaction and handle staff issues
  • Knowledge of best practice and college/accreditation standard on quality and patient safety
  • Ability to build strong physician relationships, collegiality and networking ability
  • Demonstrated creativity, innovation, and ability to multitask, prioritize and self-direct in fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The work environment is very physically demanding and may require different levels of physical exertion, such as lifting and transferring patients
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull more than 25 pounds
  • Manual dexterity
