SLGA is seeking an experienced, innovative, and self-motivated leader to provide strategic direction and supervision to the technical operations team.
Reporting to the IT Technical Manager, The Technical Supervisor provides strategic leadership, supervision, and 3rd tier escalation to a team of Technical Analysts to deliver a variety of services in the areas of client, network, database, and server operations. Responsible for disaster recovery, this position works closely with the Service Desk, Business Analytics, Application, and the Enterprise Architecture teams. This position initiates and manages technology projects together with the analysis, design, implementation and operation of the enterprise database, network, and server infrastructures.
The Technical Supervisor is responsible for ongoing support, maintenance, and integration of all IT Infrastructure and operational Projects. The position is also responsible for ensuring the effective operations, performance, and connectivity within the two data center locations (SLGA and SaskTel).

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in the planning, architecture, strategy, and maintenance of all critical electronic business systems at SLGA
  • Ensure the ongoing integrity of all systems and services by managing the appropriate hardware and software.
  • Provide technical architecture functions of designing, developing, evaluating, and integrating business applications, technical environments, information warehouses, operating systems, databases, telecommunications, and network infrastructure.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance to IT service standards, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Responsible for SLGA Disaster Recovery planning, update, and testing
  • Recommend information technology policies, objectives, plans, and budgets.
  • Prepare, review, and approve information technology contracts for equipment, services, software, and consultants.
  • Report on system utilization, capacity, and performance of technical services.
Required Technical Skills/Qualifications:
  • A degree or diploma specializing in Information Technology from a recognized Post-Secondary Educational Institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in Technical Support and infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in a supervisory and/or leadership role.
  • IT Certifications such as information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). Project Manager Professional (PMP). The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), CompTIA A+ or specific vendor certifications from companies (Microsoft, Cisco, Fortinet, Oracle, Amazon, Google, etc..) are considered an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure or other cloud computing technologies.
  • Enterprise backups and Disaster Recovery planning.
  • Strong knowledge of database management, network architecture, client/server hardware and software, virtualization, storage area networks, and IT security practices to maintain a secure infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with change management to identify risks and reduce issues with implementing modifications into the environment.
  • Datacenter management skills and experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to take IT concepts, standards, protocols, literature and apply them in real world situations, to assist with understanding interactions between multiple systems.
  • Ability to identify, clarify and analyze relevant information.
  • Ability to lead and execute projects.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to develop working relationships with internal stakeholders & external IT partners.

This position is also eligible for a temporary market supplement of 10%
