Job Description:

Basic Function: Reporting to the General Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible, under direction, for performing unskilled and semi skilled tasks in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of the physical plant. This position is also responsible for assisting and providing support in implementing the Strategic plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carpentry, painting, roof maintenance, cement work, fencing and road work.
  • General door and lock repairs, rekeying and maintenance.
  • Special event set-up including animal shades, tents, banners etc.
  • Operates carpentry shop stationary power tools, portable power tools, heavy and specialized equipment as required. Required to work shifts, holidays, and weekends as scheduled.
  • Other related duties as requested by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of two (2) years professional experience in the maintenance field carpentry, locking system, door hardware, fencing and general maintenance repairs.
  • Completion of secondary school education required, post-secondary education an asset.
  • Must possess a proven mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to operate carpentry shop stationary power tools, portable power tools, heavy and specialized equipment required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
  • Must possess unrestricted Class G driver's licence valid in the Province of Ontario along with a good driving record.
  • Must have working knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Information System (WHMIS) legislation, the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Actategic Plan.
