Job Description

The County is looking for a Welder to work in our Fleet and Maintenance department. Welders are responsible for the repair, maintenance, and manufacturing of all County owned equipment, vehicles and structures of the County.

Typical Job Duties and Tasks:

  • Performs welding, design, fabrication, and estimating work on a variety of vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Performs emergency and routine repairs and maintenance on County owned property and equipment. This involves welding and mechanical repair.
  • Studies sketches, diagrams, or parts to be repaired or fabricated and determines operations to be performed and materials required.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, or otherwise sets pieces in place preparatory to welding, and measures dimensions for conformance to specifications.
  • Cleans and degreases parts to be welded using wire brushes, grinders, or solvents.
  • Requisitions materials and tools required in the work and inspects them upon receipt for conformance to specifications.
  • Examine welds to ensure they met industry standards.
  • Cleans and maintains tools and equipment used in work.
  • Ability to weld aluminium.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Journeyman Red Seal Welder ticket
  • Class 5 driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract
  • Minimum two years' welding experience
  • Knowledge of materials, tools and processes used in gas, arc, heli-arc welding and aluminum
  • Be able to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Ability to train, instruct, and direct others in welding work

Work Schedule:

This position works Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm for 40 hours per week.

Hourly Pay: $42.03 to $49.45 per hour
