POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounting Coordinator plays a vital role in the financial management of the company. They are responsible for efficiently handling daily deposits, meticulously entering cash receipts, managing cheque clearing procedures, and swiftly resolving any bank errors that may arise. Their keen attention to detail and commitment to timeliness ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and processed, contributing to the smooth operation of the company's financial activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs activities associated with cash control, including but not limited to:

  • Prepare daily deposits.
  • Enter Contribution Cash Receipts in DEBS.
  • Clear all bank accounts daily (ISSI, DEBS, and Quick Books).
  • Contact the bank regarding any transaction discrepancies.
  • Keep the TELUS Drug Claims payment spreadsheet updated daily and reconcile.
  • Distribute mail in the Finance department.
  • Perform Internal Electronic Funds Transfers.
  • Process self-payments through pre-authorized debit.
  • Monthly tasks: Stale-date checks, stop-payment requests, and voiding claim checks.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation files for Trust Fund accounts.
  • Answer calls from internal and external sources to verify payments.
  • Provide general accounting support and assist with filing as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma including office administration courses, or a diploma or certificate in office administration
  • Demonstrated experience in financial accounting and reporting (minimum two years of relevant work experience).
  • Working knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and accounting principles.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent mathematical, reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality related to client and business matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required.
