Cost Accountant
The Cost Accountant is responsible for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back underlying activities related to injected molded plastics production. The Cost Accountant must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management. This individual will comply with provincial and federal legislation, company and health & safety policies and ISO quality program and procedures.
Job Details:
  • Full-time, day shift, Monday-Friday (8:00 A.M.- 5:00P.M.)

Education & Experience
  • A college diploma or university degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • 1-3 years working experience in a job cost environment preferred
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with MS Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, VLOOKUP and pivot tables, Visual and Accounting Software
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English: additional languages such as Spanish will be considered an asset but not a requirement.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information
  • Strong analytical, forecasting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

Job Requirements and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system to accurately record all production-related expenses, including raw materials, labour, overhead, burden and equipment costs
  • Value inventory and monitor cycle count activities to ensure compliance with corporate policie.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in cost accounting, finance, labor allocation in a plastics production environment
  • Strong administration skills and detail oriented
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved especially Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Willingness to lead, take charge and offer opinions and direction
  • Ability to adapt, be flexible and welcome change in a positive manner
  • Outgoing and able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and results-oriented
  • Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Proven team player who is both flexible and adaptable
