What you will be doing:

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Human Resources, you will be an integral member of a collaborative and strategic senior leadership team, applying your management and human resources expertise to provide innovative, creative problem solving and decision making. You will supervise and lead the HR Team, providing oversight to full-cycle recruitment activities and ensuring consistent application of HR policies and procedures, employment standards, human rights, and privacy legislation throughout the agency.

You have proficient communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. You are comfortable, even energized, by working in a fast-paced environment and you have the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and deadlines simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence are also essential, to help establish good working relationships with staff, executive leadership, hiring managers, candidates, and other industry partners.

  • Develop and lead innovative recruitment practices and procedures that improve the attraction and retention of employees
  • Create job postings and manage job posting templates for all agency positions
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership to ensure job descriptions are kept up-to-date and follow agency format
  • Define, track, and analyze qualitative and quantitative HR data to facilitate internal reporting, provide service enhancement recommendations, and inform evaluation of HR initiatives
  • Develop memoranda, correspondence, and other employment documentation including employment offer letters, addendum letters, termination letters, severance release letters, etc.
  • Monitor, review, and update HR policies and procedures ensuring alignment with agency changes and provincial legislation
  • Ongoing maintenance of all HR templates and forms
  • Collect, review, and maintain personnel data, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and consistency, to help meet agency quality improvement, evaluation, and reporting requirements
  • Coordinate, organize, and facilitate agency Casino events including volunteer management and liaison with AGLC and Casino Advisors
  • Support Health and Safety Committee projects as a member of the agency Health and Safety Committee
  • Ensure individual and unit performance is monitored and evaluated in relation to department objectives and agency critical success factors
  • Partner with Senior Leadership to proactively provide insight on the design and development of HR programs, processes, systems, and tools, keeping the needs of the agency top of mind and solving identified issues/gaps in the system collaboratively

What you will bring to the role:

  • Degree in Human Resources, Human Services, or Business related field
  • Minimum 3 years of managerial experience
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Understanding of Alberta Employment Standards legislation and Alberta Human Rights Act
  • Experience working with HRIS and applicant tracking systems
  • Ability to navigate courageous conversations effectively
  • Highly skilled at building trusting, open, collaborative relationships with colleagues, staff, and leaders
  • Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation or eligibility is an asset
  • Not-for-Profit experience an asset

Compensation - Our comprehensive compensation package offered to employees reflects a strong commitment to employee wellbeing and is competitive within the marketplace.
