About the Position: The Clinician provides oversight to support individualized and effective, trauma-informed program delivery in Closer to Home's Community Group Care programs (Calgary and Raymond Alberta). This position is part of a team working in community settings designed to address behavioural and mental health challenges of vulnerable children, youth and their families in a proactive and preventive manner. By providing clinical expertise and resources, the Clinician ensures appropriate and effective therapeutic interventions, caregiving, and support as part of the program team. The Clinician participates in team meetings, and individualized care planning, crisis support planning and discharge planning. The Clinician helps the treatment team understand the wholistic needs of the child, observes and supports in programs, completes assessments to inform treatment strategies, and provides clinical support to staff in delivering trauma informed care. The Clinician is also responsible for completing the required program reports and documentation and participates in meetings that are relevant to their role.

About You: You possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively communicate with and relate to people of all ages. You are extremely detail-oriented, organized and can effectively manage multiple priorities at one time. You are able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with individuals as well as with community agencies and stakeholders. You are a compassionate individual with a positive and empathetic approach who can effectively set appropriate professional boundaries. You have experience with individuals from a variety of cultural backgrounds, are sensitive to cultural, spiritual and sexual/gender diversity needs, and incorporate these elements into intervention planning for children, youth and families. You actively promote well-being, safety and positive development by integrating therapeutic principles and evidence-based practices into the day-to-day milieu of the programs. You are prepared to provide training and capacity building to caregivers with trauma-informed and cultural practices, assessments, therapeutic care plans, training and support with emotional regulation, coping skills, and crisis intervention. You are familiar with quality assurance practices and are eager to learn and carry out the principles and philosophy of Closer to Home and the Teaching-Family Model.

Qualifications:

  • Masters in Counselling, Psychology, Clinical Social Work or another relevant discipline identified within the Health Professions Act is required, as well as experience working with vulnerable individuals
  • Must hold a valid registration with a relevant governing body
  • Willing to work a flexible work week, including evenings when needed and commute to Raymond, Alberta as needed
  • A valid Alberta Driver's License, reliable vehicle for work purposes, adequate and current insurance and willing to provide a Driver's Abstract upon hire
  • A Police Information Check and an Intervention Record Check must be completed upon hire
