Job Title: Warehouse Assistant SupervisorJob ID: MK552975527Location: North Vancouver, BC Overview:The Warehouse Assistant Supervisor manages and coordinates activities of facility warehouse operations involving workers ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts, in warehouse, by performing the following duties, in a manner that complies with all correct policies and proceduresWhat you will be doing:
  • Receives, issues, reports and controls material in the MAS 500 inventory system.
  • Plans layout of warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.
  • Manages the warehouse cycle counting activity and reports results for compilation into monthly cycle report issued by others to Director of Materials.
  • Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; the methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.
  • Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable and excess stock.
  • Reviews material-related correspondence for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of received goods.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records (MAS 500) and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Follows instructions as to the process workflow of materials, warehoused and delivered, according to instructions from the reporting authority.
  • Establishes and communicates work procedures to meet production schedules in support of site operations manager and/or materials manager.
  • Coordinates manpower requirements by increasing or decreasing personnel and overtime to meet changing conditions.
  • Ensures workers are trained in general safety and operation of equipment and enforces safety policies and regulations.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Confers with yard supervisors and/or materials manager to coordinate material deliveries.
  • Assures warehouse and transportation equipment and tools are properly maintained and maintains logs/controls on regulated vehicles. (Hazmat Licenses)
  • Maintains effective labor-management relationships with subordinates.
  • Recommends measures to improve material storage and delivery methods and equipment performance to increase efficiency and safety.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises activities in the warehouse.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Instills in all warehouse employees the importance of working safely.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.
What you must have:
  • Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and a minimum of five (5) years of warehouse management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to monitor and direct warehouse activities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel software.
  • Knowledge of OHSA requirements related to warehouse operations.
  • Ability to learn and comprehend and utilize inventory control software (MAS 500).
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports, routine correspondence, and track information.
  • Ability to effectively speak and interact with employees and vendors.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and initiative.
  • Forklift Operator Certification/License
