Provide leadership, direction, motivation, and guidance to Production Managers and Production Supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Acting Bakery Director in Bakery Director's absence
  • Foster and embrace Health and Safety culture, driving accountability and responsibility through the Internal Responsibility System
  • Foster and embrace Food Safety, Quality culture, driving accountability and responsibility through the Internal Responsibility System
  • Embrace Ancaster Operational Excellence (TPM work culture)
  • Drive effective work performance and development of skills and knowledge of Shift Managers/Supervisors and Lead Hands
  • Monitor and control production departmental costs against budget (including direct labour, efficiency, waste and overhead), managing all cost leading and lagging KPI's
  • Troubleshoot and lead problem-solving efforts through the facilitation of team meetings and on-the-floor leadership to effectively change systems and procedures through the process of continuous improvement
  • Administer company policies and procedures with the assistance of the Human Resources Department to maintain effective and consistent internal relationships
  • Work closely with production planning to effectively coordinate and control overall days of supply and shift adherence
  • Continually improve the overall effectiveness of the production department through improvements to production and administrative costs, product quality, plant sanitation, plant safety, and employee morale
  • Work with Production Managers to mentor the Supervisors to become effetive leaders by maintaining a management development processes and reinforce by motivating, encouraging, and training
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality and quality
  • Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
  • Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are being followed
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in a related field is required.
  • 7-10 years experience managing people in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Food industry background with knowledge of current health & safety legislations would be an asset preferred.
  • Strong Leadership, interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) with a proven ability to communicate in an ESL work environment
  • Excellent planning, analytical & organizational skills
