About NBMC:

NBMC is the bilingual, nonprofit umbrella organization for established and emerging multicultural / ethnocultural associations and immigrant-serving agencies in the province. Since 1983, NBMC has played a key advisory role to federal, provincial and municipal levels of government on issues relating to multiculturalism, immigration, newcomer settlement, retention and labour market integration. NBMC is also valued by the settlement and multicultural community as a central coordinating/capacity-building body that promotes efficiency, avoids duplication of services, and allows for an exchange of best practices and other resources through its network of organizations, contacts, partners, etc.

The Opportunity:

As the successful candidate, you will work directly with the Director of Finance, HR and Administration. You are an effective team leader with strong organizational and interpersonal skill sets. You are diplomatic, bilingual, attentive to details, a strong problem solver and resourceful. You have substantive knowledge and experience with inclusive human resources best practices. You are passionate about promoting multiculturalism and collaboration in New Brunswick and are ready to make a difference.

Summary of the Role

  • Review NBMC's Human Resources (HR) policies to identify gaps and revise, as required, to align with relevant best practice HR policies and aligned.

Talent Strategy (Source, Select, Hire & Onboard Talent)

  • Lead the development of NBMC's Employee Value Proposition, highlighting its unique positioning of making a difference in the lives of others
  • Develop standardized job descriptions and identify key required competencies
  • Increase the level of professionalism of the recruitment and interviewing processes through the implementation of skills competency matrices, behaviour descriptor interviewing (BDI), interviewing training, etc.
  • Develop orientation and onboarding tools and resources for all new staff

Employee Retention & Engagement (Recognition and Performance Management)

  • Create and lead the implementation of an employee engagement strategy
  • Define the pillars and framework for performance management
  • Implement a Performance Management tool/system with predefined cycles for performance management activities and updates/discussions and supporting tools, such as performance improvement plans
  • Provide Performance Management training to Management and staff

Operational

  • Maximize the effective utilization of the HR online platform Bamboo HR;
  • Manage and maintain human resources information and related records systems
  • Work in collaboration with hiring managers to ensure the effective onboarding of new members of the NBMC team
  • Organize and conduct employee information meetings on human resources policies, compensation and benefit programs and Employment agreements
  • Ensure compliance with legislation such as the Human Rights Act and Employment Standards Act
  • Work with leadership to determine NBMC's human resource requirements, both current and future, and develop a plan to address gaps
  • All other duties as required.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • 5+ Years Experience
  • Degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent experience
  • CPHR designation an asset
  • Firm knowledge of Employment Standards Act and Human Rights Legislation
  • English and French speaking, reading and writing required
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail is necessary
  • Must be exceptionally organized
  • Proven ability to demonstrate initiative, work both independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible, resourceful, diplomatic, inclusive and compassionate
  • Experience in the immigrant settlement sector or related field is an asset

Location:

The NBMC office is located in Fredericton, NB. Staff location in Fredericton is highly preferred, but consideration for a hybrid work model will be given to outstanding candidates located elsewhere in the province.

This is a term contract to March 31, 2025 with the possibility to renew annually.
