We are looking to hire qualified Developmental Support Worker for one of our reputable client in Brampton, ON. As a Direct Support Worker, you will assist our client with all aspects of personal care, and developmental needs and help them live more safely and independently, it will be 1-on-1 with a female with developmental disability. The date and time is on Thursday's :9:30am - 1:30pm ,Short-term (needed for May, not needed for June, possibly needed again in July),starting, 2024-0-16.The successful candidate should be patient, compassionate, and client-centric.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform activities of daily living such as meal prep, mopping, laundry, cleaning of bathroom and kitchen, etc.)

  • Ensure the fulfillment of individual goals and needs as instructed in the client's support plans
  • Providing individualized and/or crisis support to children, youth and adults diagnosed with ASD (autism), Developmental Disability, Mental Health Disorder and/or Dual Diagnosis.
  • Transport clients to and from appointments and activities with their personal vehicles.
  • Assist in organizing leisure activities while facilitating the integration and inclusion of the community
  • Ensure the health, safety, welfare, and independence of our clients
  • Monitoring and overseeing the general health and well-being of the client
  • General household duties such as cleaning, grocery/supply shopping, preparation of meals, and laundry as necessary
  • Assist in satisfying the social and emotional needs of the clients
  • Document records and reports of daily care: resident incident reports, restraint monitoring records medication administration records, etc.
  • Maintain the personal hygiene/ care of our clients
  • Adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, participating in the maintenance of a safe, clean community
  • Encourage participation in activity programs
  • Sign on the attendance/ Daily & Overnight inspection sheets
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

Work Experience

  • 1+ years of relevant experience working as a Developmental support worker or social service worker.
  • Previous experience supporting persons of various ages and abilities
  • Degree or Diploma in Developmental Services Work

Certification

  • DSW/SSW Diploma/Certificate
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Record Check < 6 months
  • Standard First Aid CPR (Class C) certificate
  • CPI certificate
  • Drivers license (G2/G Mandatory)
  • Two doses of Covid 19 Vaccination
  • Safe management Certificate
  • Medical Pharmacology training Certificate

Language Skills

  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Ability to read medical prescriptions and complete Incident Report Form

Transferable Skills

  • Ability to accommodate and take On-Call & weekend shifts as required
  • Ability to comply with standard policies/ procedures and ensure safe work practices
  • Eligible Candidates must be flexible in terms of scheduling and have a can-do attitude
