THE ROLE
STRIVE Recruitment is partnered with a leading Canadian precious metals company headquartered in Vancouver, BC as the look to hire a Senior Accountant to the team. The client is publicly listed with operating sites in Central America. As the Senior Financial Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in the Finance team. The Senior Accountant's responsibilities will include preparing financial statements, consolidated financial reporting, internal controls (SOX compliance), and other ad-hoc duties. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid public company reporting experience looking to step out of public practice and into industry!
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly corporate office financial close, including reconciliations and review of accounts payable activities.
- Review regional reporting package and prepare corporate consolidation adjustments for operating and non-operating subsidiaries.
- Perform intercompany reconciliation of investment and loan facilities, and prepare required elimination entries.
- Assist in the preparation of internal monthly financial reports and supporting schedules.
- Prepare supporting notes, schedules, and reconciliations for quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors for compliance with Sarbanes Oxley Sec 404 (SOX) and maintain positive auditor relationships.
- Mentor junior accounting staff.
- Utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Workiva software.
Qualifications
- Ideally, CPA designated or due to receive letters in the coming months.
- Experience in public practice with exposure to mining, or relevant industry experience.
- Strong technical accounting skills and familiarity with the Canadian tax and regulatory environment.
- Proficiency in IFRS and experience with documentation of ICFR in compliance with SOX.
- Experience with consolidation for international organizations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel functions.
- Spanish language skills (desired but not required).
