Job Title: E& I SuperintendentJob ID: JM784106621Location: Terrace Bay, ONOverview:Reporting to the General Manager – Maintenance & Engineering, the E&I Maintenance Superintendent is a key member of the Maintenance team and, as such, is responsible for the supervision of E&I Supervisor, E&I Planner and E&I engineers and to ensure work is performed without undue risk. The focus will be on coaching/developing employees to achieve cost effective results in accordance with safety procedures, as well as constructively directing them to optimize their performance. A key part of this role will be to plan out the daily, weekly, monthly, short shutdown and major shutdown maintenance and Engineering work functions.What you will be doing:
- Supervise and provide leadership in safety, quality, cost, delivery, employee engagement and ensuring discipline
- Provide direction and support to reports and foster a highly effective working relationship with all employees
- Ensure full compliance with the collective agreement and foster sound union/management/employee relations.
- Ensure necessary regulatory requirements are met with regards to E&I equipment rebuilds, calibrations and functional testing.
- Support problem solving by providing advice or guidance for ongoing troubleshooting or new installations.
- Ensure ‘Wrench Time' of the E&I maintenance hourly team is optimized so that productivity can be increased and improved.
- Prime member for implementing the “Daily coordination meeting” to implement jobs for the next workday with the E&I teams.
- Ensure “Kitting” process is followed for maintenance
- Ensure the preventative maintenance program is developed and followed and that cost targets are within budget
- Effectively use the maintenance management systems including Planning and Scheduling Guidelines.
- Coordinate the planned work of crews to ensure both maintenance and production targets are met and quality standards are adhered to
- Maintain high standards of work performance and correct behavior as required
- Assess the skill gap of the E&I maintenance hourly team and ensure timely on-the- job training is arranged. Ensure the effective utilization of the maintenance workforce.
- Assist GM Maintenance & Engineering to establish major maintenance priorities.
- Ensure direct reports demonstrate effectiveness in role and are provided development opportunities
- Ensure continuous improvement towards current best practices based on defined KPIs
- Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities in the department such as procurement of materials for low-cost countries etc.
- Participate in team problem solving activities to address operating area issues
- Integration of Electrical and Instrument team so that common work between these two trades could be managed jointly by closely working with the engineers.
- Responsible to assist in initiatives such as E&I reliability plan, motor rebuild program, valve rebuild program, etc.
- Organize, plan and execute projects throughout production teams.
- Support annual E/I budget development.
- Perform and lead monthly crew safety meetings.
- A strong commitment to safety
- 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity in industrial maintenance
- Proven leadership skills coupled with ability to effectively manage people in a team environment
- Knowledge of OH&S regulations
- Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills
- Knowledge of an electronic based maintenance program (i.e. SAP, etc.) would be an asset
- Strong organizational skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a E&I Superintendent or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- The successful candidate must be able to work evening when required and must take weekend calls as per the weekend roaster.
