Who you might be:

The Custom Woodworker is key to creating the outstanding functional and decorative items integral to our high standard of design. Your repertoire will include decorative hoods, islands, vanities, specialty projects and furniture pieces. We have a great team that will support and help grow you in your skills, knowledge and abilities; in turn you will be part of ensuring the highest quality of product that our clientele have come to expect.

Position Summary:

  • Working in our clean and organized, dedicated custom shop environment inclusive of, but not limited to:

Sliding table saw, Sawstop Cabinet Saw, Planer, Jointer, Router Table, Domino Joiner, Lamello Zeta P2 and other standard cutting, sanding and drilling machinery.

  • Flexibility in working with both veneer sheet stock as well as solid wood
  • Building custom projects and specialty pieces (hoods, islands, furniture, wall panels)
  • Cutting and assembling gables, panels, doors, mouldings etc.
  • Visiting the occasional job site with team members to review complex projects
  • Work with like minded individuals striving for excellence and personal growth in both skills and pride of trade.
  • Be proactive in assisting apprentices and other team members in your area
  • Support the collaboration of ideas and skills within the team
  • Work on all assigned custom projects in a timely fashion that coincides with the Cardinal's delivery schedules
  • Inspect product for quality control and report any defects in material and machining practices to your Team Leader
  • Assume an active role in monitoring and communicating repairs of department machinery and maintenance schedules
  • Ensure that a safe and productive work environment is maintained in co-operation with fellow team members and to act within safety guidelines
  • Understand and follow our policies and procedures

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Possess the ability to work in an industrial manufacturing facility
  • Communication style that demonstrates respect for self and other team members
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to singularly lift approximately 23 kg (50 lbs) safely
  • Confidently in independent work and with other team members
  • Ability to create professional relationships with others around them
  • Demonstrate planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Possess proficiency with both imperial and metric measurements
