Role

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Field Quality Officer's role is focused on providing quality leadership and insight to the projects group. The Field Quality Officer assures that all inspection and test requirements for the facilities are performed as per regulatory and customer requirements. The Field Quality Officer also ensures that the standard processes and procedures for the quality management system are adhered to on construction sites and customer projects.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing all aspects of inspection and audit activities with minimum supervision
  • Implement Quality Control Systems and processes
  • Review and understand Contracts, Scopes of work and Engineered drawings
  • Determine the requirements of clients and develop quality plans in order to ensure they are communicated to all relevant parties
  • Perform surveillance monitoring of project quality and ensure that requirements of quality are being followed
  • Interact with client representative and project team to resolve quality related issues
  • Interact with the customers QC inspectors for the resolution of site problems
  • Assist in non-conformance and corrective action investigation and reporting
  • Promote the ideals of the quality policy, continual improvement and importance of quality throughout the company
  • Assist in the maintenance of the field quality library

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years substation experience
  • Electrical Engineering Technologist or Journeyman in electrical is required
  • Protection and Control experience would be an asset
  • Must be able to read and understand construction and electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code is an asset
  • Knowledge of the Utility Code is an asset
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or other quality management systems is an asset
  • ISO 9001 auditor training is an asset
  • Project Document Management is an asset
  • Experience in the High Voltage Industry is a definite asset
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis in Excel is a definite asset
  • Bluebeam Software skills is an asset.
  • Valid Driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required

This opening is for the Marathon Gold Valentine Lake Project starting June 1st and end in November of 2024

Schedule of 14 days on and 7 days off

10-hour days (7:00 am to 5:30pm). Overtime paid at time and a half after 10 hours in a day as well as after 40 hours in a week.

Travel time to and from site will be paid at base rate, and travel provided by employer from St John's.

This will be a camp based job, all accommodation and food provided.

Starting wage of $37.77 - $45.00
