THE ROLE

The Quality Control Inspector is pivotal in ensuring the quality and compliance of parts and equipment manufactured by external vendors. This role involves significant travel to vendor sites for conducting inspections and audits, collaborating with internal teams to resolve quality issues, and upholding stringent quality control standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • External Quality Assurance: Perform regular on-site inspections at vendor facilities to ensure compliance quality standards. This includes conducting visual inspections, assembly, and packaging checks as well as incoming inspections of supplied parts at main vendor location(s).
  • Vendor Collaboration:Work closely with external manufacturers to identify and rectify quality issues. Initiate and follow-up on corrective actions and improvement plans.
  • Documentation and Reporting:Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, audits, and corrective actions. Prepare and submit detailed reports to the Project Manager and Quality Control Manager.
  • Continuous Improvement:Identify opportunities for enhancing quality in external manufacturing processes. Propose and assist in implementing new quality control methods and standards.
  • Communication and Coordination:Liaise with internal teams, including Project Manager, Buyer, to ensure consistency of quality standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years experience in the manufacturing industry, with at least 2-4 years in a Quality Assurance role, preferably in an external vendor inspection capacity.
  • Sound understanding of basic Quality Assurance concepts tools and processes (Corrective Actions, NCRs, standardized procedures, tracking, auditing)
  • Proficient understanding of manufacturing processes, with an emphasis on powder coating
  • Ability to listen and communicate concisely and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • High energy and strong work ethic driving towards meeting or exceeding the teams and individual goals
  • Proficient in problem solving (8D, 7 Step, 5 Phase, 5 Why, Six Sigma)
  • Familiar with (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC)
  • Familiar with Supplier capability assessments
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Ability to make professional presentations and influence external partners.
  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ok to work outside 50% of the time
