Action Land & Environmental Services Ltd. is a land and environmental consulting firm based in Medicine Hat, Alberta and Kindersley, Saskatchewan with additional offices in strategic locations throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. Our team has been providing land and environmental consulting services to the oil and gas, renewable energy, utilities, and municipality sectors in western Canada for over 20 years. We offer technical expertise in a range of consulting services to solve our clients' environmental, land and regulatory requirements.

Action Land & Environmental Services Ltd. is seeking an intermediate Environmental Scientist with at least eight years of experience in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan. A suitable candidate MUST be registered in good standing, with an applicable Professional Association allowing the ability to review and sign professional environmental reports. They must also have experience completing both office and field work related to the following:

  • Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments;
  • Detailed Site Assessments;
  • Remediation and reclamation projects;
  • Soil sampling and sample handling;
  • Spill response;
  • Vegetation and soil assessment projects;
  • Preparation of detailed field notes, technical reports, and data tables; and
  • Completing physical demands such as: heavy lifting, shovelling, hand angering, driving long distances, walking long distances, and working outside in cold or hot weather.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following:

  • Strong soil characterization and vegetation identification skills;
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with managers, contractors and clients;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team-oriented and suited to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Positive attitude and self-motivated;
  • Strong consideration for safety in the field;
  • Logical thinking ability, attention to detail and the initiative to apply knowledge and suggest practical solutions to field challenges;
  • Ensure that project requirements are met in a timely and effective manner;
  • Effective technical report writing, data collection and recording skills;
  • Valid driver's license; driver's abstract. Your own vehicle an asset;
  • Willingness to travel and conduct field work for extended periods of time;
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and flexible to work on a wide variety of projects, tasks and assignments, responding easily to changing priorities; and
  • A Technical Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science or related discipline with professional status, in good standing, in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan.

Preference will be given to a candidate located in or around the following locations, where work is primarily based, or be willing to relocate immediately:

Alberta: Medicine Hat, Provost, Wainwright, or Lloydminster

Saskatchewan: Kindersley, Macklin, or Luseland
