If you are passionate about commercial insurance and share the ambition to revolutionize the commercial insurance space, we are currently on the lookout for an Underwriter in our Marine team.

In this role, as Marine Underwriter, you will report to the VP, Transport and your main responsibilities will include risk analysis of files submitted by brokers, underwriting the requests and ensuring an excellent service to brokers.

Main responsibilities

• Develop, underwrite and service new business & renewals in accordance with our program and contract guidelines
• Accept or decline risks according to one's level of authority
• Advance business relationships with existing and new brokers through professional service and marketing visits
• Collaborate with colleagues on current and future opportunities
• Represent the company at industry events as required
• Maintain market intelligence, business insurance trends and industry knowledge

Profile

• Minimum 2 years Insurance experience
• Experience in Marine Insurance, an asset
• Knowledge of Lotus Notes and Guidewire, an asset
• Have an insurance diploma, an asset
• Computer skills – good working knowledge of MS Office
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with a wide range of colleagues and brokers.
• Accurate and numerate.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills (written, verbal, active listening)
• Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritize.
