JMT Consultants Inc. is a growing structural consulting firm seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join our dedicated team. We offer an exciting relocation expenses package for individuals outside the Winnipeg area. We will also consider the opportunity to work remotely for the right candidate.

We want to hire a structural engineer with excellent mathematical, IT, and analytical skills. Structural engineers must be detail-oriented, creative, and possess excellent problem-solving skills.

To ensure success, structural engineers should display an investigative nature. They must be accurate, commercially aware, and have excellent communication skills with a keen interest in ensuring the safety and physical integrity of buildings and other large structures. Top candidates will have fantastic project and budget management skills with excellent knowledge of construction processes, materials, and legal regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibilities will include structural analysis and project management for delegated steel design projects.
  • Typical projects would consist of steel structure design and erection engineering, steel connection design and miscellaneous steel design.
  • Additional responsibilities include calculation development, steel shop drawing reviews, submittal preparation, RFI development and new calculation development to enhance efficiencies.
  • Use analysis programs such as MathCAD, Excel, Idea Statica, BlueBeam and Ram Elements.
  • Review 3-D BIM models with Trimble Connect to aid in connection design and shop drawing reviews.
  • Obtain planning and building regulations approval.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in civil or structural engineering (essential).
  • Professionally registered.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Enthusiasm and desire to succeed and develop technical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills are required, both verbal and written.
  • Software skills with any of the following are a plus: Revit, MathCAD, Excel, Ram Elements, Idea Statica, BlueBeam or Trimble Connect.
  • Attention to detail, logical problem-solving skills, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Passion for steel design and growing professional knowledge and skills in steel design and fabrication.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/certificate
  • Canadian Citizenship/Legally able to work in Canada
