SUMMARY

This role is a blend of QA(80-90%) and BA(10-20%) where the person will be responsible for preparing and executing the regression and smoke test plans for various software applications. As well as working with the project manager to gather and elicit business requirements.

This is a hybrid, 12 month contract based in North York.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Categories

  • Work closely with developers, vendors, project managers, and operations team members on testing and deployment activities.
  • Prepare detailed regression and smoke test plans for various business applications.
  • Create and execute test plans/cases based on evolving project requirements.
  • Identify, analyze, and report the IT application and system bugs and anomalies.
  • Track the bugs and ensure they are mitigated or accepted before the production deployment.
  • Adjust the test plans as necessary according to the evolving requirements and ensure that the test plan is up to date.
  • Help with the projects and application/implementation planning activities including planning, scheduling, meetings, communications, and documentation.
  • Work with key project stakeholders to analyze the feasibility of, and develop requirements for, new systems and enhancements to existing systems; ensure the system design fits the needs of the users.
  • Identify business rules and opportunities for improving business processes.

Leadership and Team Building

  • Work as project team member during end-to-end system life cycle development of major projects.
  • Provide technical input to risk analysis and change control from quality management standpoint.

Team Participation

  • Accurately report project status to senior project team members.
  • Assist with the development of stakeholder information management standards and evaluation of technology trends.

Relationship Building

  • Work closely with the business stakeholders, IT team and vendor to understand their requirements to provide the best solution.
  • Follow the change management procedures for better scope management
  • Communicate using appropriate channels and keep everyone informed about the project status

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited degree granting college/university or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a QA analyst and Business analyst.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail - ability to quickly analyze problems, get things done with minimal requirements and guidance.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies like kanban or scrum
  • Experience in major areas of testing cycle gathering, documenting, and analyzing requirements, providing estimates, creating test plans/cases, creating process diagrams, logging bugs, coordinating UAT, change management, deployment support.
  • 1+ years of experience testing web-based and off the shelf software applications
  • Proven ability to analyze, evaluate, and integrate business processes and procedures.
  • Utilize time management skills and multi-tasking capabilities with ability to handle multiple and parallel projects.

Reporting to the Sr. Project Manager.
