Are you a motivated and experienced Project Coordinator, Regional Health Initiatives looking for an exciting new opportunity?

Alberta FNIGC is a not-for-profit, First Nations-owned organization. We promote, protect, and advance First Nations' Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession (OCAP®) principles, the inherent right to self-determination, and jurisdiction in research and information management. Our organization supports partnerships with our Nation members regarding free, prior, and informed consent to promote credible data owned by First Nation Peoples.

Based in Calgary, the successful candidate will be responsible for nurturing partnerships within the Indigenous Component of the Healthy Life Trajectories Initiative (I-HeLTI) project. This role involves coordinating collaborative efforts and facilitating communication, resulting in the successful implementation of the shared research programs and objectives.

What you might do in a day…

  • Maintain strong working relationships with collaborating partners;
  • Ensure the First Nations principles of OCAP® are upheld;
  • Promote, protect, and enhance communities' inherent right to self-determination and jurisdiction in research and information management;
  • Act as the main point of contact for collaborating partners, facilitating information exchange and
    project updates;
  • Organize and lead regular meetings, workshops, and conferences to foster collaboration and
    knowledge sharing;
  • Ensure that collaborative projects meet quality and compliance standards, including legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements;
  • Work with the analysis and research teams to establish performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the success of collaborative projects;
  • Maintain detailed records of agreements and project plans and prepare reports and presentations for senior management and key stakeholders.

And you have…

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's preferred) with five (5) years' related
    working experience;
  • Strong understanding of the inherent right of Indigenous Peoples to self-determination and jurisdiction in research and information management;
  • Familiar with the concepts of free, prior, and informed consent to promote credible data owned by Indigenous Peoples;
  • Understanding of Knowledge Translation and Knowledge Mobilization principles and methods;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft Teams) and collaborating platforms;
  • A clear understanding of First Nations cultural sensitivities and worldviews, as well as in-depth knowledge of Indigenous governance, culture, and languages; and
  • A valid class 5 driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and the ability to spend several nights away from home while travelling to more remote nations.
