Here's the deal: I'm an HR person. I'm not a developer, and I'm not even a specialist recruiter. So, please bear with me while I try to relay what this job is about, as someone who doesn't know a lot about Full Stack JavaScript Development.

We're developing virtual world / metaverse software backed by large industry partners. We were one of the first virtual worlds around, back in 2006-ish, and our old product simply can't be updated and adapted anymore. Our new platform is running on Unity, super cool looking, and shaping up nicely. It's already been deployed on limited availability and has base functions and services.

We're looking for someone who can help us add advanced functionality and strategically plan our next dev moves. We already hired someone awesome in this role, but we're realizing it's a huge job and we could use another superstar. You'll be working with a small team of friendly, helpful, intelligent people who are eager to create something new.

About you:

• Enthusiastic about new technologies
• Likes figuring out how things work and how you could make them better
• Loves a good problem to solve or mystery to unravel
• Good at translating ideas from non-tech people into actual technical requirements.

If you're the kind of person who wants predictable, easy work every day: I get it, but this isn't the job for you.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience building complex web applications using TypeScript, Node.js, and React

• Extensive experience with modern JavaScript tooling and frameworks, such as Remix and Next.js

• Understanding of CI/CD practices and git/GitHub

• Capable of understanding complex architecture

• Strong experience building applications backed by RESTful APIs.

• Follows coding best practices (unit testing, documentation, version control, etc.)

• Ability to transform ideas into technical discussions and then into actionable tasks

• Good team player - respects their coworkers' knowledge and abilities and isn't afraid to ask questions or reach out if they need help

• Ability to learn and adapt to new practices and changes.

• Willingness to take a proactive approach when issues are found and put in the effort required to get to the root of technical problems.

• Ability to collaborate well in an asynchronous, multi-time-zone environment

• Good English communication skills (intermediate+)

Bonus Points

• Life-long learner, enthusiastic about new technologies, methods, and ideas.

• Experience with Postgres, ScyllaDB, Cassandra; experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases

• Experience building desktop JavaScript applications with Electron or Tauri

• Proficiency in CSS, including Tailwind

• An eye for good UI/UX design

• Experience working with design teams using Figma, Photoshop, and Illustrator

• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes.

• Experience in the video game industry
