Responsibilities and Duties
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is responsible for providing personal care, hygiene and assistance with activities of daily living for clients in the community.
Experience:
Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service. Physical capabilities: Able to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach freely and for extended periods; able to lift 23 kilograms independently; able to assist Clients with standing, walking, sitting; able to reposition Clients in bed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate / Diploma or Development Service Worker
- Practical or BScN Nursing Students who are actively working towards their Year 1 , 2, 3 or 4 Nursing license are encouraged to apply.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Search (within 1 year)
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate
- Proficiency in English, both verbal and written required
- Available for all 3 shifts.
- Knowledge of Body Systems and physical health conditions
- Knowledge of Common Cognitive Problems and Mental Health
- Proper techniques in assisting elderly with personal hygiene
- Best Practices in Nutrition and Hydration
- Safely operate mobility devices
- Proper Documentation
- Empathy and Patience
- Keen observation and critical thinking
- Time management and organization
- Teamwork and Communication
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Salary: $21.25-$23.65 per hour Plus the Provinces $3/hour pandemic premium
