Position Summary
The Field Operations Assistant (FOA) is a full-time position in the Toronto region developed to assist with the logistics of our field delivery services as well as general maintenance of our facilities at head office and to provide an additional labouring resource to the Field Operations team within the region when necessary. The FOA will be responsible for organizing and maintaining an inventory of materials and supplies typically used by our Field Operations team. The individual will receive orders from the field staff, place any orders for items not in stock and/or replenish depleted stock and organize these items for deployment to the various sites via the Transportation and Asset-Services Operator (TASO). The FOA will be responsible for organizing and maintaining a clean and safe environment in our warehouse facilities and assisting the TASO by receiving the materials at the warehouse, placing them into stock, organizing shipments to our job sites and loading/unloading the MARANT delivery vehicles as necessary. There will be periods when the FOA will provide driving services to support the TASO. The FOA will be responsible for the maintenance of all MARANT FO equipment and will complete any necessary minor repairs or arrange for their completion by qualified vendors. The FOA will also be considered a “floating” site assistant and will be available to assist with labouring duties on our sites when there is a need to fill in for absent/vacationing Site Assistants. It is anticipated that the FOA will divide time between the logistics and the site assistant duties at a ratio of 70/30 (logistics/site assistant) however this may vary to suit the needs of both roles.
Job Duties
- Maintain an inventory of essential items for the Field Operations and Head Office facility.
- Organize deliveries and assist TASO with loading of shipments.
- Assist the TASO with the disposal of site waste at the MARANT lot.
- Submit/receive shipments of materials/equipment at Head Office.
- Perform small repairs/clean and maintain MARANT equipment such as vacuums,
- power tools, site fixtures/furniture prior to deployment to sites.
- Restock Health & Safety stations/totes prior to deployment to sites.
- Assist TASO with record keeping of MARANT equipment.
- Periodically drive the MARANT delivery vehicle to support the TASO during vacation time and periods of high demand.
- Clean and organize MARANT's warehouse/storage facilities, including any off-site storage as well as exterior properties.
- Perform minor repairs/maintenance to the warehouse/Head Office facilities such as light bulb/lamp replacements, door hardware adjustments and minor paint touch-ups.
- Perform cleaning and organizational duties on a job site.
- Recognize and report health & safety infractions while on site.
- Perform rough carpentry on job sites.
- Provide inventory counts at year end for accounting purposes.
Requirements
- Solid communication skills
- Strategic planning and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills involving the creation and distribution of emails and understanding of business software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
- Fiscal responsibility
- Ability to complete small repairs
- Ability to recognize the needs of a repair to the facility/equipment
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record
- Previous experience with driving a cube van size vehicle
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs

- Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
