Position: Accounting Technician

Reports to: Controller

Location: Various

Job Brief:

The Accounting Technician is responsible for supporting the Controller in maintaining daily cash transactions and ensuring the credibility of financial data.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs reconciliation of weekly and monthly cash accounts and payable and receivable accounts.
  • Investigates of discrepancies in reconciliations, regularly communicates with payable and receivable departments.
  • Completes necessary journal entries and postings pertaining to reconciliations.
  • Supports the finance department with balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Supports the finance department with general administrative duties (i.e., filing, running reports, etc.) and completes general projects as required.
  • Administers company credit cards.
  • Participates/complies with company safety program by attending and participating in monthly safety meeting.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Accounting certificate or diploma in business administration or related discipline. Experience in similar role is an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office and enterprise resource planning (ERP) or related software.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong math and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and prioritize based on deadlines.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Familiarity with oil and gas service industry is an asset.
  • Other duties as required.
