Director, Development Finance

In the role of Finance Director within our Development Division, your key objective is to optimize and elevate operational efficiencies. Your focus will span development modeling, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, advisory services, market research, and decision support. This responsibility encompasses all asset types within our Development Business, with a primary emphasis on Multi-Family Residential Rental. However, it extends to include Condo Residential, Office, Retail, and Industrial sectors. This pivotal role reports directly to the President of CLV Group Development, ensuring your contributions directly impact the highest levels of our organization. Your financial expertise will play a crucial part in steering our development initiatives towards continued success and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Streamline and optimize modeling, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and advisory services.
  • Champion decision support functions for the Development team, ensuring alignment with broader business goals.
  • Critically evaluate assumptions, risks, and opportunities within the planning and budgeting process for annual development fees.
  • Support the Development business in aligning development practices and procedures with CLV Group's financial standards and controls.
  • Lead the preparation of Executive Summary reports for development projects managed by CLV Group.
  • Ensure financial practices align with best practices and industry standards.
  • Enhance and leverage technology to drive efficiencies within the development finance platform.
  • Quarterback land, development, and take-out financing for development projects through conventional and CMHC lenders.
  • Scale and build the platform, contributing to the production of development and financial project status reporting, KPIs, and dashboards for management and executive stakeholders.
  • Lead the establishment and management of the Development Finance team.

Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
    • MBA or professional certification (CFA, CPA) required.
  • Experience
    • 8 years proven experience in a senior finance role within the Real Estate or Development Industry.
    • Experience with full-cycle involvement within 4+ completed development projects.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
    • In-depth knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial project management.
    • Technologically proficient with a focus on leveraging technology for financial efficiency.
    • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Additional Information:
    • This is an in-office position.
