Field Service Technician - Vancouver, BC

Currently we are recruiting for a Field Service Technician in Vancouver, available to travel to other sites in British Columbia.

Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for dealing with the end users by commissioning & servicing systems with our products. They will establish commissioning or service plans by studying system requirements and specifications; gathering components and parts as required; completing installation as required; programming functions and performing acceptance testing. This position involves providing training to end users on operation and basic maintenance of systems.

Terms of Employment: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 depending on experience, plus car allowance

Education:

• Diploma in an appropriate trade such as master electrician or maintenance electrician, or a college or Technical School degree as electrical/electronic technician or technologist.
• Building Industry BICSI Certification and IATSE membership, would also be considered assets
• Valid drivers license and valid passport with the ability to enter USA and European countries.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Commissioning & Servicing:

• Willing to study specifications, drawings, and paperwork of materials for specific jobs for the purpose of integrating components into a system operating as per specifications.
• Completes installation of equipment, components, and devices, outside of the scope of work of an electrical contractor;
• Services existing installations by analyzing work orders and modifying, adding to, or changing as per requests and complaints;
• Performing maintenance tests;
• Basic training to end users on the operation and maintenance of their systems.

Field Work Organisation:

• Planning for upcoming field trips; keep tools & test equipment complete and in working order;
• Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records;
• Identifies solutions, suggests improved methods and techniques to fellow field technicians;
• Recommends system improvements to Product Management;
• Uses appropriate security and safety procedures.

Technical Sales:

• Promotes equipment and systems to end users as part of a technical presentation in conjunction with Sales representation, specifically in highly complex technical fields.
• Supports sales team by advising on techniques to achieve results efficiently and effectively.

Miscellaneous:

• Perform special assignments as required by their manager.
• Ensure that the International Standards Organization (ISO) related requirements of documenting all pertinent transactions and communications are adhered to.

Skills and Abilities:

• Read schematic drawings, Bluebeam, Visio and AutoCAD an asset.
• Ability to utilize test equipment and hand tools to perform work.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with customers, team members, and support personnel.
• Always present with a professional image as they will be representing the company. Deal with technical problems confidently.
• Provide strong communication skills with customer service, telephone, and verbal conversations.
• Needs to be available to work on a flexible schedule.
• Willing to represent the company in a sales situation.
