Position Title: Camp Maintenance Technician (Contract)

Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Camp Maintenance Technician will be responsible for various tasks that support the work of the exploration team at the company's properties in northwestern British Columbia. This is a hands-on position that requires a mature, responsible, and service oriented person to conduct daily, weekly and as-needed maintenance services and repairs at the company's camps. The ideal candidate will be someone who has previous experience with mineral exploration in remote settings.

This position is seasonal in nature and the duration of the contract may be up to 5 months, depending on workload and drill program needs. The position is scheduled to start in June 2024.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Complete regular inspections and maintenance on generators and mobile equipment; ensure all systems are working as designed
  • Receive supply shipments; inventory and organize supplies and equipment
  • Complete regular safety inspections and ensure camp cleanliness including common areas, lunch areas, and waste disposal areas
  • Ensure adherence to the company's water and waste management programs
  • Adhere to company protocols on driving, transport of persons and goods and other job-related tasks
  • Actively seek opportunities to recognize health and safety hazards, resolve safety issues, and work to mitigate associated risks in the workplace
  • Move drill core and supplies with a skid steer
  • Assist in delivery and organization of drill core
  • Ensure adequate water is available for core cutting
  • Lift and move field supplies weighing up to 50 lb.
  • Janitorial duties for limited common spaces
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Previous camp management experience and strong mechanical skills
  • Familiarity with basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry would be an asset
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical components of vehicles with troubleshooting and ability to independently change tires
  • Experience driving a skid steer loader
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects weighing up to 50 lb.
  • The candidate should demonstrate self-motivation and excellent interpersonal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort
  • Ability to work in remote or challenging physical environments
  • Ability to work a rotation schedule and live onsite in a remote camp environment for extended periods of time
  • Strong English communication skills, both oral and written and the ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Basic computer skills would be an asset
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract

Work Location and Conditions

This is a site-based camp job near the Eskay Creek Mine site in Northwestern BC. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation including travel.

The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities in the region. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace Airport, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and wet conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
