There is one contract Student Program Support Assistant position available starting on June 03, 2024, and ending on August 10, 2024, working 30 hours per week.

Your Role:

Undertakes various program support duties within Safe Haven Youth Services as assigned, maintaining a safe and caring environment. Implements and supports the implementation of day and evening programs.

Tasks:

Client Service:

  1. Supervises and supports youth, monitoring behavior and ensuring continuity of goals and objectives of the program.
  2. Follows schedules, location, and practices of the program.
  3. Reports on client crisis situations.
  4. Participates with clients in activities such as housekeeping and meal preparation.
  5. Accompanies clients to appointments and community events.
  6. Communicates relevant client information to supervisor and team members.
  7. Acts as a role model for clients.
  8. Reports clients' medical needs.
  9. Attends program meetings and ensures timely communication.

Administration:

  1. Completes required documentation and paperwork.
  2. Responds to telephone enquiries, recording and delivering telephone messages, updating communication logs and other communication processes.
  3. Participates in supervision.
  4. Completes time sheets and keeps supervisor informed of availability.

Your Talents and Experience:

A minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent plus relevant college or university level courses. Experience in the field and/or interest in pursuing a career. An ability to form helping relationships with youth; relate to youth with warmth and understanding, setting consistent and appropriate limits. Ability to observe and record individual and group behavior in an objective and accurate manner. Ability to implement individual and group treatment plans as directed. A sound understanding of social learning and systems theories and an ability to apply them. Holds a valid driver's license.

When determining the rate of pay for external hires, a candidate's past related experience will be taken into consideration along with where others with similar experience currently fall within the band.
  • Note: most new team members will start between the starting salary and the mid-point of the range.
